Unseen-Sri Lanka – 28th August

28th August

‘’Unseen’’ -Sri Lanka
Directed by Asanka Ishan Dayapala

On the day she plans to die—her birthday—an autistic woman steps into a bare space, clutching a teddy bear, surrounded by books, toys, and memory. She has decided this will be her final act—not of despair, but of truth. Before she exits, she demands to be heard. UNSEEN unravels as a poetic; sensory monologue of a life lived behind glass. We journey through the visceral textures of her world: the sting of light, the overload of noise, the crushing ritual of masking. Institutions failed her. Normalcy wounded her.

But now, in these final moments, she speaks. Not for pity—but for reclamation. Through fragments of memory and flashes of fury, the mask falls away. And what we witness is not a broken person—but a brilliant one, made whole through truth. In the rawest hour of her life, she doesn’t die. She awakens. UNSEEN is not just a play. It is a rebellion. A benediction. A radical act of visibility.
