THE BODY AS BORDER – India – 27th August

Political borders shape human movement and identity. Instead of depicting conflict directly, the work translates restriction, migration and control into physical language. The performer’s curvilinear body represents organic human flow, while a transparent plastic sheet symbolizes imposed territorial lines. As movement shifts from fluid spirals to constrained pathways, the body negotiates, resists and reorganizes itself under pressure. Plastic becomes landscape, barrier, burden and ground surface.

Through minimal English/Assamese dialogue, breath, interruption and repetitive movement, the performance asks how far a border can enter the body. The final image presents a body standing on the border yet refusing to become it: a body that reclaims rhythm, curve and agency within the presence of an imposed line.
