‘’Childhood’’ – Sri Lanka
Directed by Vindya Ananda
A 65-year-old man is practicing Maitri Bhavana (Loving-Kindness Meditation). Due to the severe pain in he back, he scolds the doctor who treated he. He lives alone, and the only companion he has is a cat named Dayawathi. The man realizes that the cat has developed an inappropriate relationship with a stray cat from the house next door. He makes it clear to Dayawathi that such behavior is unacceptable. The man also explains what society expects from her and the duties and responsibilities he must fulfill.

Even though he cried out to give food and drink, the cat did not go to the man. It did not dance or play. The man scolded the cat. In the end, he realized that there was nothing in life that he had gained for herself. He allowed the cat to live freely and, blessing the cat that had shown him life, he remained silent.”
