When the time came for asking a boon from Brahma, his tongue was tied by goddess Saraswati (acting on Indra&#8217;s request). So instead of asking Nirdevatvam (annihilation of the Devas) he asked for Nidravatvam (sleep) and his request was granted. \n\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"is-layout-flex wp-block-gallery-1 wp-block-gallery alignleft has-nested-images columns-default is-cropped\">\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"750\" height=\"533\" data-id=\"4648\"  src=\"https:\/\/citf.lk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/NIDRAVATHWAM2.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-4648\"\/><\/figure>\n<\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Laxmana on the other hand was allowed to give up his sleep completely and bequeath it to his wife,Urmila, for the fourteen years of his exile.
